Q: Can I submit a paper if I am not currently enrolled in a graduate school program?
A: No. We apologize, but the conference cannot support undergraduate work or papers from post-docs at this time.
Q: Are there travel grants or financial assistance offerings for this conference?
A: Not at this time. Check with your home institution for travel funding. Additionally, the conference is entirely free to attend and participate, and we will do our best to provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday during the conference.
Q: I can't attend the conference. Can I skype in?
A: Unfortunately we do not have the capacity to be able to support skype or e-conferences. We hope to see you another year!
Q: I'm an international student. Can I submit an abstract?
A: Definitely! However, we cannot provide funding or travel/visa assistance if you are accepted to present.
Q: Do you provide lodging for the conference?
A: We do our best to offer space for participants to stay with graduate students in the department at Boulder. While we cannot guarantee lodging to everyone, we try to offer couches or spare rooms on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information on hotels and other options in Boulder, click the travel tab.
Q: I am not a cultural anthropologist. Can I still submit an abstract?
A: Yes! We welcome papers from archaeologists, biological anthropologists, linguistic anthropologists, and graduate students in other areas of the social sciences as well.
Q: When is the conference again?
A: September 28 and 29, 2018. Expect to attend all day Friday and all day Saturday.
Q: Will CU Faculty be in attendance?
A: We work collaboratively with faculty to host this conference, and faculty participate as moderators on panels. If you are interested in meeting our faculty and seeing our department's culture, this is a great opportunity.
Q: Will the conference have panels and moderators?
A: We intend for this conference to run like other professional conferences complete with panels and moderators, workshops, and roundtables. This is a great opportunity for graduate students as it offers a space to present our work, receive peer feedback, and develop our place within the discipline.
